Thank You

Thank you for organizing your household and your children to take on distance learning. There were thousands of children online this week, engaging in quality lessons and using many technology tools. My children were busy learning about Ancient China, cause and effect, using the metric system, PE activities, and animal adaptations. Here is one of our teachers, Mr. Blake, celebrating distance learning:  Blake Video

Our teachers are committed to providing engaging learning for all students for the remainder of the school year (May 28th). Students may use Google Classroom to engage with their teachers including asking questions. Parents may also email teachers with any questions you may have to support learning.

Professional Development Day

On May 18, all RSCD teachers will not be online with students. Instead, teachers will be learning about new curriculums that will be implemented in the 2020-2021 school year and will be working with colleagues planning lessons for the remainder of the school year.

Snap A Photo

Snap a picture of your child while they are doing distance learning and share on social media with the hashtag #RCSDchampions.  We want to celebrate the learning that children are doing at home while we miss seeing them in person!

Visibility of Student Online Activity with Securly

To maintain ongoing compliance with the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) and Children’s Internet Protection Act (CIPA), we have partnered with Securly. Securly’s cloud-based web filter will support keeping students safe while logged in with their RCSD Kids Account. Securly scans emails, docs, and drives to provide full visibility into our students’ online activity and notifies District Leadership of any student searches containing signs of cyberbullying, self-harm, or inappropriate content.

With the SecurlyHome app, you can have a real-time view of your child’s activity. The District has created accounts for the primary contacts for each student in PowerSchool (typically Parent/Guardian). Those contacts will receive an automatic email from Securly Support, or support@securly.com with your Get Started guide. When asked to “Enter your school registered email,” please use the email you use with PowerSchool, and not your child’s email address.

Ongoing RCSD Student Device Loaner Program

If the mobile device assigned to your child has been lost, stolen, or damaged, or is not charging, please complete the Student Mobile Device Lost, Stolen, Damage form as soon as possible.
